Even if you don't reside in Oxfordshire, you should still be prepared for the fact that the county is frequently chosen as a test bed for such initiatives, as is the case in London:

Even though I'm probably in the minority here, I really like the LTN that was implemented in our region. I could walk my dog off leash without fear, my children could ride their bikes to school without fear, and the birdsong would sound like a lockdown, but my neighbor was publicly shamed for bringing these issues up at a meeting. "Oh my goodness, I'd love to drive through your street to drop the kids at your school. It would save me so much time compared to driving to my job in the next town. Please, don't bring up the topics of safe kids and bird song; it's really intense." (I may have paraphrased, but it was powerful stuff). Commuters, not residents, were the most vocal opponents, though many locals were unhappy with the plan as well. I loved this one: "But it's so difficult to get to the local supermarket now as the roads are all changed." I asked when they were planning to go, and they said "about 5 pm." I countered that they should be retired, so why not go at 11 am when the roads are empty? They responded with a "oh, well, I suppose I could try that" :wallbash:.

In my free time, I enjoy driving and owning automobiles. In any case, I prefer streets that are less dangerous and more pleasant. Balance is tricky.

Very great.

But we never intended for our roadways to serve as places to walk dogs, ride bikes, or observe birds.

We need to keep in mind their true purpose, in my opinion.
