Greetings to everyone here,

Here I am with a 2004 C180 Estate that is as beat as it gets. It is a real workhorse, and I adore it.

My three-meter-long Douglas fir slid into the windscreen last year, shattering the passenger side and proving once again how foolish I am.
Even though my insurance was completely comprehensive, it turned out to be *Fully Comprehensive*.

*besides windscreens, of course.

The windscreen needs replacing since the crack has worsened since last year's MOT, even though it passed.

Advice on how to accomplish this cheaply would be greatly appreciated, as I do not possess the proverbial pot to tinkle into.

I'm curious if the W203 Coupe windscreens that I've seen on eBay for £200 are compatible with the estate. May I enquire about rain sensors as well?

I would much appreciate any assistance.

If you are interested, I have an OEM screen that is fresh new and in excellent condition from Mercedes. The top shade band is blue. This is for the model that has a single rectangular rain sensor, not the one with two circular holes. The hue might be either green or blue. A piece of white paper held behind might make it easier to see.

Here is the tale ;)
An old screen for my C32AMG was an order I placed long ago. About £700, if memory serves. Despite their assurances, the screen they sent was defective. I required the mixed kind for the separate rain/light sensor. They expressed regret for the error, but the replacement screen was out of stock. The person who installed my screen assured me that he could switch out the wrong holder for my old one. It was flawless, and this is what he did. The right screen came two months later, and it was free of charge. It is still with me!
The little amount that will go toward Olly's BOTG charity of choice this year is more than enough to make me delighted to let it go. How much you decide is up to you; I'm not picky. One catch: you're responsible for collecting it. It is rather enormous, and I will not be publishing it. Pictures and measurements will be provided to me tomorrow.

Please accept my deepest gratitude for your generous offer. I think the tint isn't that important, and I hear that the rain sensor apertures are swappable, but I'll check it out later nevertheless.

My family lives in Brighton, so we could visit on a Saturday that works for you, spend the night, and then travel back on Sunday. It's around a four or five hour journey from here, but it is possible.

Willingly contribute to Olly's BOTG cause.

Having spent a considerable amount of time behind my Volvo.
A vacation to Brighton sounds excellent. I will be away for two weeks starting on March 26th, for Easter.

Not that it is all that important. Either way, it will be magical.

Transportation is the only thing I need to figure out; I'm not sure whether it will fit in my wife's Fiat 500.

What matters is that it is the right rain sensor!

Poor thing! Someone scrapped my friend's 2006 W203 C class Diesel for £200 just recently. It was going full steam ahead! Eventually, the expense of continuing to travel became too much for him. Oh no, you might have gotten the entire vehicle instead of just the parts I had. Where is he? Wiltshire.

The unfortunate timing is my fault; the shit has been sitting in front of his house for months.
