Salutations Everyone,
Approximate gas mileage for my R50 2001 Mini One is 17 miles per gallon.
Just about six weeks ago, it passed its MOT with flying colours; I can't swear to the existence of a rich odour, though.

Rest assured, it is not leaking in any way.
Are you unsure of how to begin?
Much obliged

To confirm these are reasonable, I would examine real-time data, including fuel trims (both short- and long-term), sensors on each side of the cat, and air and coolant temperatures.

If the coolant temperature sensor is malfunctioning, for instance, it could default to -40C, leading the DME to overfuel because it will assume the temperature is extremely low.

Could you possibly point up anything more that I could verify?

It is something I will contemplate. Apologies, but I don't know where on the OBD to find the short-term and long-term fuel trims.

Just chill, dude.

Generic OBD2 data should display fuel trims and base O2 sensor data, even in cheap handheld scan equipment. As far as I can tell, my chip one cost around £30.

Follow the steps outlined above to check the temperature; sharing your findings will help us along the way.

How about codes? Is there anything else the scan tool can retrieve? When it comes to more intricate details, the scan tool's level will serve as a baseline. To check if there is a petrol odour, you could remove the plugs.

Then, as a precaution, I would perform a smoke test to identify any potential leaks; this will, once again, narrow the possibilities.

Indeed, I believe that my should be able to do that. I am not aware of any codes, but I will provide an update after I have had a chance to investigate.
