Hello everyone! My trusty e60 m47 recently gave out on me. The AA guy said it was too expensive to fix, and a couple of mechanics refused to even look at it. Eventually, a friend with a garage looked it over. At first, I blamed the chain, but when my friend attempted to turn the engine by hand, it stalled. I removed the intake and noticed that one of the swirl flaps wasn't working; I suspect it has made its way into the cylinder and is stuck there. My plan B is to remove the head and cross my fingers that the pistons are unharmed. However, I have no idea how to remove it, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try looking for some videos on Google; I came up with a couple.

Would removing the cams be necessary in order to remove the head?

Without a certain, because the rockers and cams are resting on the bolts that secure the cylinder heads.

Is this sort of task too daunting for someone without experience?

The ability to locate an internet tutorial, take your time, and be meticulous is all that's required; if you're good with spanners, then it shouldn't be too difficult.

Do you have the tool's?
When reinstalling it, a torque wrench will be necessary.
Continue with your video assignments; I truly believe that you are capable of everything you set your mind to.

I've got the necessary tools and am comfortable using spanners; I have recently done the head on my daughter's baby panda; nevertheless, the BMW is too large and intimidating for me; and despite my best efforts, I have been unable to locate anything online that is to my liking.
