Hi there, I'm having trouble figuring out what this noise is coming from in my 520D E60. My grandpa just put in a new starter motor, but now every time I turn the key, it sounds like something's wrong with the fuel level. I have no idea if that's relevant, but if anyone can shed some light on this, I would be eternally grateful.

Please inform me where it should go if this isn't the correct spot; I'm new here. Thank you.

So it has no power at all, simply the ability to click?

Nothing else, no crank, just that noise.

As for the new battery, I'm not sure if that has anything to do with getting the car started.

Has it done the same thing since you changed the starter?

No, it was completely silent prior to running the starter.

Verify the starter's connections one more time to ensure they are tight. Inspect the engine-to-body main earth strap and the boot-to-jump-point and starter main positive connections. If everything checks out, it might be a seized engine or a defective starter.

Before this, the vehicle had been sitting for a few months.

Check the engine and battery earth connections in addition to the ones mentioned above.
Be careful to securely fasten the battery terminals as well.
