My CH-R has called for an emergency stop while I was behind the wheel on two separate occasions recently. I know that might be a PCS issue, but is there any way I could have been the one to trigger it? Would the automobile have slammed on its brakes unexpectedly if I had accidentally knocked or pressed anything (like into Neutral, for example)? Your guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Generation 1 or Generation 2? Let me clarify.

Gen 2 vehicles have an adaptive cruise control button on the wheel; when four green lights appear on the right side of the screen, it means the vehicle is in autonomous mode.(often a dual carriageway highway)


Manually adjusting the distance range setting allows you to read further ahead or close.

You don't specify the sort of road speed, but there have been instances on country roads where I've been descending without using the pedal, and my car began to stop while there were no vehicles in front of me save for parked ones.

The only two instances in which my emergency stop has ever been triggered were when parking, specifically when I got too close to the garage wall or when I was backing up to the shrub at my old job.

Not often, but on the rare occasions that it has, the red BRAKE warning light has come on in the instrument cluster, and I have never had to use the emergency brakes because of it.

Sometimes when I'm going around a corner, mine may slam on the brakes because it thinks it noticed an object on the road.
Consider it a simple case of the car assuming I was going to crash into it instead of negotiating the curve because of the strange angles.


Occasionally, while navigating narrow streets with parked automobiles, I hear a buzzer and a red warning light. It's unpleasant, but not a major problem.

When I was carefully manoeuvring into a parking bay with a high pavement kerb behind me, when I was slowly pulling out of the bay with another car right behind me, or when I had my bike carrier attached and hadn't disabled the PKSB function (and before the January 25th PKSB update for this problem), that's the only time my Gen II car did this.

The car has slowed down on multiple occasions when I've turned on ACC, but it has never stopped entirely or used the brakes in an emergency. There have been a few instances where the brakes have lingered for a little too long. These incidents typically occur on highways or dual carriageways in lane 1, as I'm getting closer to the car ahead of me that's turning left onto a slip road. To avoid this, I've learned to either shift into lane 2 or manually apply more throttle to reduce the stopping power.


Perhaps it would be beneficial to experiment with the ACC range setting or have the system diagnostics checked for any issues or malfunctions 🏁

Additionally, I only use the ACC on main trunk routes free of parked cars because it isn't meant for that use 👍

I discovered that mine would occasionally brake heavily and slow down until I switched off the feature that showed a small car and four half circles on the dashboard. Since then, it has been perfectly behaving, with the exception of the occasional red flash and bleep when it senses that I'm about to collide with a parked car.
