Have no clue what over-the-air upgrades cost

So, when I go into the store to buy Stonic accessories, I see three options: one costs £85 and includes online maps and OTA updates; another costs £25 and includes entertainment updates; and a third costs £75 and includes map and entertainment updates. What gives?

Choice 1: £85 for downloadable maps and over-the-air updates
Choice 2: £25 for entertainment-related over-the-air updates

Choice 3: £75 for over-the-air map and entertainment updates

What on earth?

So, how are they different?

Indeed, the only alternative available to me is the two-year pass, which costs £76. Now I'm not sure if I should even bother.

Before you buy, make sure you read the fine print: it states you'll only get two OTA updates, not two years. If you want to save money, update via USB instead, because it's free (for now). Avoid spending money by updating via USB, as it is now free.

A "two year pass" costs £76 and is the sole option for my Gen5W.

In the past, I would download updates before they were accessible over-the-air (OTA), but these days, I had to wait a lot longer.


I believed I could only get two or three free OTA updates; therefore, my most recent update may have been the last free one. Please tell me how to verify this. After the next OTA update, will I automatically be promoted?

Despite removing "Lifetime" from the app's description, the new wording—"2 year pass"—is still deceptive because, in my view, it means "2 years" and not "2 updates." Perhaps they'll get it straight in the future, haha.
