Salutations everyone,
Over the weekend, I replaced the magride shock, and sure enough, one of the caps snapped off.
Instead of investing £250-on a new cap from Audi, I know the user DIY-Engineer found a solution utilising DC-Jacks as a cheap substitute. Has anyone else tried this out yet?
Much obliged.
You’re only seeing the surface.

It may be feasible to do a plastic weld repair, but that depends on the exact location of the break.

You may find the sort of plastic used to try to fuse it back together on the cap, which is indicated between these markings > < as seen below. Amazon and eBay are good places to look for the kind of plastic weld sticks you need.

If it just snapped like in the image above, fixing it shouldn't be too difficult. But in my opinion, that's the easiest thing to prevent. The more difficult and ultimately fatal part is that if the green center pin breaks, it's essentially game over.
It may not be easy or dependable, but you may attempt fixing it nevertheless. If you're looking for a used shock that still has the cap, it's the only thing I can think of that would be cheaper than new. Then see if you can get rid of that one without shattering it, haha. Although there is still a possibility of breaking it, you can likely get three used ones (if you can locate them) before you reach the cost of a new cap, haha.
