For some reason, I keep thinking this is the window's channel trim.
It is partially detached and has a discoloured or hazy appearance.
The only side it's on is the driver's side, and I suppose the cloudiness is just from being in the sun more.
While I can see the effects of the trim dressing on my skin, I'm not convinced it will be able to hold the trim in place.
The clip won't reattach, and there was some reading concerning clips breaking. Since trying to remove everything all at once would make the problem worse, I have refrained from doing so. Glueing it on might be the way to go.
There may be another component that is malfunctioning because the boot lid's rear reflector won't snap in correctly.
You’re only seeing the surface.

Search Realoem for the part numbers and look them up on Google.
Have done it numerous times and obtained what I refer to as peculiar components such as these for relatively little money.

Much obliged,
Recently, I came across what appears to be the necessary component; however, I am still unsure as to whether item 3 or 4 is required, depending on which one is damaged.
the 51337164954 component number
Expect to pay between £60 and £80
It's barely protruding by an inch, so I'll try to make do with it till I find out for sure.
Much obliged.

You can find a YouTube video that should be identical to yours in this post on the G21 M340i window trim. It shows you how to remove the trim.
