Good day,
A grinding sound has been emanating from my 428i (2017 F36, 90k miles) during acceleration, pushing off, and occasionally during corners for the past several months. It sounds like the noise is coming from the storage box, which is under the gear shift. When there are people in the back seats, it becomes more apparent at lower speeds. With just two people in the front seats, it doesn't look right.
The differential seals were replaced not long ago due to a little leak. Prior to and throughout the repair work, the noise persisted.

I would be eternally thankful if anyone could identify these symptoms or provide any insight.
Much obliged.

A holding clasp for the plastic handbrake cable has broken, exposing the tube to the prop shaft.

That was really useful, so thank you. Because of how loud it is, I was afraid the worst would happen. It seems like you may find some generic replacement parts on the internet that should solve the problem.
Once again, I appreciate your prompt response.
