Nowadays, every car comes standard with Stop-Start; the only one we've purchased since 2008 (a Ceed) came without it.
Because it's the law, it's always on for all brands.
You shouldn't be upset about it.
Truthfully, it's a small miracle if it reliably fixes a car that's seven years old.

As such, I would not consider my remarks to be a complaint. Ah, now I see. In terms of its practicality, I am not quite persuaded. What interests me most is the relative importance of fuel/pollution savings, starting system/battery wear and tear, and overall ecological impact/costs. When I'm stuck in traffic for more than a few minutes, I just turn it off. I didn't mention that, but mine has never worked reliably, and fixing it isn't worth the bother. But my Sportage is the best.

Definitely not. If you're stuck in traffic for long periods of time, it just won't happen. This is because of the battery's limitations and the charging process that only uses the upper fifteen percent of the battery.

We used to tell clients to turn on the air conditioner and heater fan on low speed so the stop/start mechanism would cut off when the electrical demand got too high; I'm not sure whether this is still the case for 2019 models.

My default setting is off, and it has never been functional. Not that I really miss it.
