No joy with the replacement rear camera.
My s205 reverse camera suddenly stopped working, so I took it apart to find that two of the cables connecting it to the unit had broken or been detached, and so I went ahead and bought a new one. Regrettably, I dismantled the boot multiple times without success in identifying any other problems. Has anything been omitted? Canbus realignment was an issue with earlier autos, right? Can we do without this? Are there any additional pointers?

Possible cause: a short circuit caused by disconnected or broken wires has blown a component in the control unit.

Does the new part seem to be an authentic MB part? It wasn't my car and it was a different "brand," so there was no direct comparison. However, after a genuine (although expensive) part was installed, it was operational again. There was already an unsuccessful attempt to install a so-called OEM camera that matched the part number and brand online.
A Marque expert shared their knowledge that many "online" cameras are either (a) counterfeit or (b) poorly connected and so useless.
