Now that we have removed the high pressure pump—which we completely forgot about—we will replace it and attend to this. I am grateful.

Thanks a tonne for getting back to me! We didn't notice any smoke coming from the exhaust on the way home, and when I tried starting it briefly with easy start, there was no smoke either. All I can think of is the possibility of finding a business that specialises in ecu rebuilding and sending it to them; they might be able to return the software to its original state. Prior to paying for the service, ensure that the person performing it assures that it will function.

From what I've observed, the ones with door pillars are the ones where the harness attaches.

I would remove the flexi rubber and inspect it for any exposed wires; are you skilled with solder and tape?

Since it's functioning well on the opposite side, I'm wondering whether the wiring harness is broken at the point where it exits the body and enters the door. It's common for wires to break at that location.

You can find a YouTube video that should be identical to yours in this post on the G21 M340i window trim. It shows you how to remove the trim.
