At this point, unless it has already been done, I would assume that the suspension needs refreshing. Those original shocks are definitely not in excellent functioning condition. All four shocks with brackets and, if not the front control arms, then at least one of those bushes has to be broken.

You should not be discouraged from sourcing and having installed a non-MB provided part simply because the dealer refuses to do so. On rare occasions, the CLK would malfunction. The kind guy from Autoglass came back with his magic laptop after installing a new windscreen and corrected it. When this happened before, I found that giving the screen a thorough cleaning helped.
