The primary battery went dead without any warnings, and there was a continual fan noise under the passenger seat. A Land Rover computer analysis revealed that the dc converter was malfunctioning.

DC converter, should it be?
I am planning to have a new dc converter installed soon, but I'm wondering whether the model I'm getting installed is one that has already had the issues addressed or if it would be better to wait for the recall to be implemented so I don't have to deal with it again. The dealer has my order.

Actually, I think HV mode is the best and easiest choice. Like you, I had no idea about charge mode, however it appears to have no real use and is just a marketing ploy. No need to worry about the Canadian flag on my profile; I'm actually based in the UK and am just using a VPN.
