Upcoming Service and Recall for the 118 D Msport Coupe

Hi there,

For the offer below, I have contacted the primary BMW dealer in my area. The essential oil service is £99, and if you'd want, you may also do the full minor service for £189.

Apparently, the minor service consists of little more than adding the cabin filter and topping off fluids. (I've applied coolant).

Considering skipping the minor service that updates the system and stamps the service book in favour of only doing the oil service, my thoughts have changed.

Also, I had no idea that the Drivers Airbag was a recalled product until someone informed me about it.

The problems I faced, which were apparently common, made me think twice about using their services again.

There are no outstanding recalls, according to the notes, on the invoice for the work they conducted last year.

Does the recall show up when I check via VIN?

Attention, driver: It is necessary to update your airbag. Make haste to schedule a maintenance appointment with a BMW Partner. Date of recall: 0032730300

Should I utilise BMW again? I know they can only handle recalls.

Going elsewhere might not assist unless my luck with the previous work and technicians was just bad.

Just about a month ago, the service light went out, but it's for this year's October.
I brought this up, and someone said that it seemed premature for a warning at this point—unless it's related to my mileage, which is 7,000 miles since my last service.

Next month, I have a tentative reservation.

It is unclear from the post what the problem was that you had with them.

Clearly, the air bag recall wasn't in effect when you were there previously; it was likely released subsequent to that.

Good day,
I took my car in last June for an inspection of an intermittent rattle upon startup, which was covered by a third-party warranty. Their first assumption was that the noise was caused by the vibration damper wearing out. Had it been done, it could have caused even greater damage to the engine. The technician was summoned to come out and listen to the collection, and he or she determined that the noise was probably caused by a great deal of activity happening very rapidly. It was really confusing for me. Short rods or cables were also to blame for the difficulty shifting into and out of reverse gear. Someone else should have asked to look at a comparable vehicle.
If the recall is made public after

All other tasks are handled by either myself or the local Indi, however they do handle recalls for me.
Since a BMW indi is the way to go for servicing and repairs once the warranty expires, I was wondering what year the car is. Of course, recalls are the responsibility of the main dealer, and they will handle them regardless of whether you perform your own servicing or not.

The vehicle is a 2011 model with 63,000 miles on the odometer and was acquired with 56,000 miles. I've had it for a year. Changed oil and filter right before buying.

From what I can tell, the only thing that differs from a minor service is the cabin filter; last year, we had a health check that came out empty. And it passed its MOT last December without a hitch.

It would be worth the additional £100 if the minor service includes the cabin filter, and I can look into it.

When I previously asked about the Passenger Airbag Light being "Off" in the headlining even while I'm sitting in it, the adviser has included a note to see if there is a recall on that particular one. I have the following notes: "Investigation into Passenger Airbag deactivation light when ignition is on - Normal operation"

I'm not sure if the light is for oil service or just a service light, but if you could let us know where you are, we could find you a good independent BMW mechanic. Some mechanics update the service on I Drive, but I think it's just as good to keep records. Some people don't know much about service schedules, but I think it's just as good.Yes, airbags are exclusive to BMW. I have one on mine and have been putting it off for a long time because I despise visiting BMW.

I am now based around Chelmsford. There is an independent business nearby that I have not had the chance to contact yet.

Although I have not been able to determine whether the oil check is displayed on the dashboard, I do have a dip stick and I believe that prior members have mentioned that it is the only way to conduct it.
