So, I haven't had a Mercedes in fifteen years! A total of four BMWs have passed through my hands in that time. For starters, I couldn't find a Mercedes within my budget that met all of my needs. I am now on the hunt for a new, more practical daily driver after selling my M5.
I will be checking out a 2021 E Class 400d Coupe tomorrow. It has 70k miles, has been owned by one owner, and has the FMBSH certification. The problem with the OM656 tandem pump is well known to me. It has been 70,000 miles, so it should be OK, right? I've heard that the faulty engines were recalled since they supposedly failed at roughly 30,000 to 40,000 miles.
Your thoughts on this matter would be quite appreciated.

Are you able to get proof from the vendor regarding the recall or repair?
Although I am not familiar with the engine, I will check for the typical problems; nonetheless, at 4 years and 70k miles, it may be time to change the ATF (unless it is truly sealed for life).
The 9 speed (which I think this has) isn't typically recommended, but it's worth enquiring about as it doesn't always fall under the FMBSH.
approximately £250 to £300 if that's the case
Are the build sheet associated with the VIN available to you to review from the seller?
The viewing should go well.

Once I have the VIN number, I will confirm if it was included in the recall and conduct all the necessary inspections. At 77,000 miles, the gearbox is supposed to be changed.

I'm not sure how to answer your question about the OM656, but since it's a 2021 model, it was manufactured while the COVID-19 supply chain was causing the random deletion of numerous "tech" components. So, it's probably a good idea to double-check that all the usual tech is present.

Unfortunately, it contains Adblue, which is why I will not be purchasing it.
