Potential sequence of events?

Where is everyone?
Some thirty thousand miles ago, BMW installed a new engine in this vehicle.
The mileage is 128k, but it is unclear whether the timing chain was also changed.
Perhaps an expert can tell me whether I'm hearing things or not.
In advance, I appreciate it.

Based on what I can gather from that video, it seems like BMW would have used a fully constructed engine with the timing chain already attached when they installed a replacement. Even if that wasn't the case, they still wouldn't have reused the chain.

I understand now; when I start the engine, I don't hear anything; it was just noticeably louder than normal.

There was a little clatter at the beginning of the day.

It seems the same to me, no.

Although an oil change could be helpful, you may notice some noise when you begin to listen (I know, it sounds silly).
To begin with, diesels make a lot of noise.

I was so exhausted that I paid too much attention to the oil change that happened a thousand miles ago.
Much obliged.
