Greetings to everyone

I was planning to refurbish the wheels and tires at the same time because my CLK 209 avant-garde cabrio (standard suspension, everything in good working order) is currently equipped with Pirelli Powergy 17" tyres. I am in no way a tyre snob; in fact, I own cars with Continental EcoContact, Falken Sincera, and, on my former SL (which is now gone), Falken Zeix.

The CLK's steering isn't great; it's a bit numb and doesn't self-center very well. Which tires would you recommend? Accurate steering and comfort are my top priorities. I don't know if it's just a case of the emperor's new clothes, but someone suggested Pirelli pzeros. (the steering thing could be a characteristic, but it's appreciated anyhow).

So

remain committed to powergy?
b) See if anything else works?

The Pirelli P7 could be a more suitable alternative to the Pirelli P0, based on your driving habits. Unless you're a serious pedaler, I'd recommend the P7 for its supposedly better economy, longer runtime, and marginally more comfortable ride. On my s211 e class, I have the P7, and they've been fantastic—but getting a flat can be a real pain.

Which of the P7 variants, similar to P Zero, should I choose?

It really depends on the weather and the time of day you plan to drive, but I have the P7 Cinturato 245/45 R18 with Audi fitment. Fortunately, I have another vehicle at my disposal in the event that we do experience ice on our roads.

Because of the numb steering, I upgraded to a 16-inch wheel a few years ago. Significantly less expensive and durable tyres.
The ride is almost identical.

It made a difference when I went from 17s to 16s on my SL, and I usually prefer smaller wheels.

Here, I'd prefer to keep it standard: front tires with 225/45/17 and rear tires with 245/40/17.

Front tires with the size 205/55/16, which is a popular and inexpensive choice.
