For £85 I got "lifetime" OTA updates for my EV3, however there seems to be some misunderstanding on EV Odyssey over the £76 option.

As expected, my car isn't listed as being compatible when I go to the store to purchase it.


The sole choice is "Lifetime use" for £76, and it states "select option" underneath.

When you buy this upgrade, you'll get two improvements for your car, as you can see if you scroll down.

"Finish the purchase step in Kia Connect app to receive 2 OTA updates," it reads further down under Set Up, item 3.

I thought it meant there would be just be two upgrades, and that the £76 for lifetime access was a mistake.but what if I'm mistaken? But I think the prior deal was £75 for two upgrades for older cars and £85 for OTA updates throughout the warranty term, before they returned to the shop.

I figured it would be easier and less likely that my remark would go unnoticed if I left it here instead of on your YouTube channel. My sincere apologies if this is too formal.

Like myself, other owners of Gen5W units may find this VERY deceptive, therefore I wrote Kia this morning to express my concerns.

As far as I'm concerned, the term "lifetime" refers to the whole duration of the Kia Connect service, not just the next two upgrades (which it does mention, as you pointed out, and has been with Gen5w devices), but to the end of the service itself.


"Lifetime" means more than simply two updates, therefore it will be fascinating to hear their reasoning.

Here is what my version says: VERY DECEIVING

Because it does not have a defined meaning, the ASA should make it unlawful to use the word "lifetime" in advertisements.
The "Lifetime" according to Kia refers to the duration of your 7-year warranty. Not for the vehicle's lifespan, not even for the duration of your ownership of the vehicle

Like you, I thought "lifetime" meant till the end of the seven years, but the Kia shop still says there are two upgrades! highly deceptive

Even worse, the confirmation email states "Lifetime" without mentioning the two upgrades that are included in the purchase. It is highly necessary to highlight that they may have intended two revisions annually.

This has to be clarified by Kia because it is as unclear as mud.

The new shop provides a bewildering array of alternatives, many of which falsely state that they are incompatible.

The Kia dealership caters to ccNC machines. The 22nd Gen5W units appear to have been branded in the customary Kia fashion. Because they didn't proofread anything, they made a huge mistake. It also seems like the app never gets updated and tested.
