The door lock is making a noise.

When I lock it, it makes a clunking sound sometimes, and then it makes around five beeps. This is Design 2025.
It eventually clicked for me that the seat beeps indicated something, but occasionally it would beep even when the seats weren't in use. Is anything I've said incorrect?

I see it as a signal to look in the backseat in case you've left something or someone (like a beloved dog or a little sleeping youngster) behind.
This is based on the assumption that you may have opened a back door when you unlocked the car; for example, on rainy mornings, I use the squeegee that sits on the floor of the back passenger compartment to wipe out the windows, roof, and boot.
If I reach my destination and secure my C-HR PHEV, it makes a five-beep sound to alert me that I might have accidentally left something in the back seat.
I now take my charging cable in its case to the car in the morning (I charge at work) and remove it in the afternoon when I get home, all because of the rumoured rampant theft of parcel shelves from SUVs and hatchbacks in London. Thieves allegedly smash rear windows to get them, leaving victims with a massive bill and the unpleasant inconvenience. As a result, I have emptied my boot and removed my parcel shelf from my home.
That means I now choose to store my belongings behind the front seats rather than in the boot, and I no longer receive the five beeps as a reminder to open the back doors when I arrive at my destination, be it work or home.
Hopefully, that is of assistance.

""The system interprets your action as having unlocked the car through the back door, which is why it made that assumption.""

Every day is a school day
Now that I understand why it occasionally beeps, I can stop using the F.F.s, so thank you for the illumination.

In my opinion, that is excellent information. It is appreciated.

Is disabling this feature even an option?Locking the car after dark is a major pain.

9 beeps indicate that the SW's rear seat alert has not been cancelled; opening or closing the rear door likewise silences the alarm. Indeed, you have the option to disable this, but it is exclusive to dealers

Though I've never experienced the chimes personally, I do see a notice on my dashboard instructing me to check my seats after muzzling the seat reminder. Before I can start the car, I need to remove it.
