Adapters for S-type headlights

Does anyone know of a reliable individual in the UK who might replace the adjusters on my behalf? Somebody must be using one of the many S-type 200/204s floating around. Jaguar has built a beautiful model with this one, however the headlight system is overly sophisticated with too many sensors and levelling gadgets for the simple task of keeping a bulb lit. It took me around ten minutes to change the headlight bulb in my first car when I was seventeen years old. I have to take the front end of the car off just to get to the bulbs now. Not even a young person with little hands could do that with my 76 years of age!

At this time, I am unaware of any businesses that provide this service. The adjustment kit is available at some stores, and it comes with all the pieces you need to replace the ones that break. However, in order to access the inner workings, you basically have to "cut" the clear lens off, which can be dangerous.

I hope you've already found this helpful do-it-yourself tutorial.

Although the'screw' method is another fast fix, it won't work if the bottom adjuster has broken.

In comparison to other headlights of the same era, I do not believe the S type to be particularly complex. Headlights, regardless of brand or model, must feature an adjustable mechanism to ensure proper installation in every vehicle. A simple electric motor drives the adjusters on halogen lights, and in the case of HID units, they receive information from sensors on the suspension to keep them pointing in the correct direction, so to speak, so that they can lower their beam when there are heavy loads in the boot and not blind other drivers. Additionally, HID lights are required by law to be self-leveling. Very similar to other models of the same time.

The S-type is one of the few "modern" cars I own that really has enough space to remove the access covers and change bulbs, etc., so there's no need to disassemble the front end to do it. Forget about the X type or XJ; I promise it's a piece of cake.

Take care to confirm that the internal adjusters are indeed the problem. The ground can be illuminated with a headlight for additional purposes.
