Are rear coilovers available?
Hello everyone, I am in a bit of a pickle because the corrosion in my Mk6 Fiesta's rear upper spring mounts has caused my MOT to fail. Someone mentioned rear coilovers on Facebook, and if they are real, I won't have to waste time and energy trying to locate a mobile welder who can replace the mounts.

See if it's necessary to remove the original spring mounts by consulting with your MOT guy, or any MOT guy, if possible. Is the spring seated solely in the cup?
Looking over the clearance quickly, I saw some YouTube links showing how to install coil overs, but it seems like they only show how to do it on the front. From what I could tell in the videos, there isn't much room for coil overs in the back.

With only a few rusty bolts holding the shock mount in place, I seriously doubt there's enough clearance at the back, and it's also possible the body doesn't have enough support to hold the springs and shocks—basically the entire weight of the rear end—on that one spot. Furthermore, I'm not sure how well the springs and shocks will line up. Though I acknowledge the possibility and existence of such a thing, I fail to perceive any need for it given that those wishing to enhance performance could simply provide the existing setup with lowered springs and upgraded dampers. Therefore, I would assume that replacing your current spring brackets with new ones will be the most labour- and cost-intensive option for a like-for-like swap.
The Facebook comment was likely referring to a complete coilover kit for a car, with the rear suspension components sold separately. It is possible that I am mistaken.

There are a number of videos on YouTube that claim to show how to install coil overs on a Fiesta, but in reality they just show how to install shocks and springs in the back.

Because of the corrosion, the car would probably fail the MoT even with coil overs.

I was wondering if it would be possible to install coil overs by removing the spring seats or by finding an alternative way to mount the springs.
Assuming it won't break if it isn't fitted or visible?
It is my sincere belief that I failed to observe anyone installing rear coil overs.
