I have owned my 2022 HEV GT-Line S for two years and adore it, yet maintenance presents some concerns. I formerly owned a 2017 Sportage AWD diesel, and this is my seventh vehicle. We have owned a Kia in the family, and I appreciate this particular model. All prior instances indicated a 24-month service interval across Europe, whereas a 12-month interval is observed in the UK. This has consistently been described to me by dealers as simply 'one of those things', emphasising that services 1, 3, 5, etc., are merely minor services, primarily involving the inspection of fluid levels, tires, brakes, and the tightness of nuts and bolts, costing under £100 - my former Sporty incurred a fee of £96 for its 7-year service.
I am approaching the five-year mark for my current vehicle and was astonished to receive a quote of approximately £450 for an interim service. I contacted a nearby garage I frequent to enquire about the cost of a Kia designated service (to uphold the warranty), and they quoted me £435! They indicated that the primary expense was the cost of spark plugs, priced at £40... per unit, and they would need to procure the appropriate ones from Kia. According to my service manual, the spark plugs are recommended to be replaced every 45,500 miles (50,000 for Europe)... however, 'for convenience, they may be substituted before this interval during other maintenance tasks.' My vehicle has merely 32,000 miles, and the maintenance schedule explicitly indicates that they should be replaced at 45,500 (or 50,000) miles. Given that cost, I would prefer to substitute them as planned; it's a rather straightforward task. In my opinion, that is simply egregious exploitation for profit. Has anyone else enquired about this? The plugs that fit the manufacturer specifications are NGK SILZKR8E8GS iridium plugs, priced at £22.49 each from Autodoc.

Have you attempted to obtain a quotation for a two-year Kia care plan?
Did you incur an expensive expense for the fourth-year service involving the hybrid belt replacement?

I have been conducting my own research today, as my service #4 will require scheduling shortly for our PHEV model. According to the Kia UK website, estimates for this service vary between £638 and £745 at nearby dealerships. However, a Kia service plan for the fourth and fifth years will amount to £819. I believe I will purchase the service plan.
