A 2025 CX70 turbo S is mine. A radio-related question for the community... As soon as the engine starts, the radio will go on. Turning the radio off before turning off the engine doesn't prevent it from turning on automatically the next time I turn the engine on.
Is this the way it was designed and I should just accept it, or is there a way to program it to work like a regular radio?

Is the sound coming from the OEM system in the Mazda, or is it Android Auto or CarPlay?

This system seems to be OEM Mazda. The only device I ever use it with is Car Play on my iPhone, which allows me to use Google Maps.

Interesting inquiry... I learned how to handle this problem with my 2024 MX-5, so I was prepared for my 2025 CX-70. There is really no way to turn off the infotainment system. Actually, turning down the volume knob mutes the sound; the next time you start the engine, the sound will be back.You can handle it in one of two ways. Ignoring it would be the first option. Secondly, the next time you start the car, make sure to turn the volume down all the way. Thirdly, navigate to the infotainment system's "source list" section, scroll down to the bottom, and choose "audio off" before pressing the commander knob. Then it will be completely quieted. This is how I do it. After you've done it a few times, it becomes second nature and takes very little time. However, my wife is really bad at remembering how to do it, so she avoids using any audio. If I use the car and then forget to turn it off, I'm in a jam until I find out how to make her stop using it.

It was the same query I had, though I never got a satisfactory answer. It lies with the software. In my 2018 CX-5, turning down the volume would cause the car to go into silent mode until I manually turned it back on. It was pleasant. As you mentioned, it is what it is, and it isn't great. Design choices in software can be perplexing at times.
