We replace the X1 info screen.

Since my X1 - 2017 Diesel's info screen is old and lacking in features, I'd like to replace it.
Has anyone else done this, and if so, who would you recommend as a professional contractor?

While doing my own research, I came across numerous videos on YouTube in response to my keywords on Google.
In theory, it should be possible to do it yourself.
At the moment, it is at the bottom of the list, but I am still looking at the units. I just had other things to take care of.

Just like you, I'm not sure it will work with the current I Drive system, therefore I'd rather have another person or business do it. I am having trouble finding people in my immediate area (Chesterfield, Derbyshire).

A decent option is the incorporation of an MMI interface for CarPlay / Android Auto, and the stock screen has decent resolution.

My Pro Nav E91 got itss from AliExpress, but I'm sure you can find plenty of local shops willing to do the same.

So there's no compromise in functionality, a long press on the Menu button switches between the standard system and CarPlay.

I installed an AliExpress unit in my friend's 2016 Golf Mk7, and the screen resolution was noticeably worse, especially since the car was made in 2011.

My top goal is avoiding death in a multi-car pileup ball of fire, and the iDrive system, instead of a touchscreen, is a nice feature of the BMW. #banthetouchscreen

iDrive is extremely user-friendly compared to touch screens. Just like you stated, you won't pass away too soon.
