Why is the United Kingdom not covered for clockspring failures? Does anyone have any idea why it's covered in the US but not here? It's really unfair because it's the exact same car with the same defective element. VW UK just says they can't comment on american models. these obviously won't confirm that these are the same parts, despite my attempts to persuade them to do so.

People from the United Kingdom are masters at complaining, and the Passat sold in the United States is absolutely different.

No one apparently made a unique clockspring just for them, did they? Trust me when I say it will be the same portion.

Consider the 2013 Passat as an example; in the US it is a type 3A, while in the UK it is a type 36. In 2014, the "Control unit for steering column electronics" (part number 5K0 953 569 H) changed to AL, indicating that it is shared with the PQ35 platform, like the Golf 6. Although PQ46 initially utilised 3C5 953 501 BN, they later switched to 5K0 and even modified the switches in a few instances. The only way for a dealer or TPS to fix a PQ46 steering column controller is to read the original code. However, it's worth noting that Mericans excel at complaining.
